Dad finished Mom's Mother's Day present!!! She's long desired a porch swing and Dad has finally finished her dream! It's needless to say that she isn't the only one who is going to enjoy it. :-)

Ta da!!! It comfortably fits 3 people (but it can hold more and it has!)
The seat is made out of an antique table top. The table was falling apart and wasn't fixable so Dad found another great use for it.
The back is an antique door Dad had lying around. It was too short to fit a normal doorway but it fit the swing perfectly after cutting a few inches off the bottom!! He decided to take off the handle though...didn't think it would feel good in the back of the neck! lol!
These are the legs of the table and the arm rest was the brace for the table legs...we love putting junk furniture to a new use!

I love the combination of materials your Dad used! It came out beautiful. Pinning this for future reference.
I absolutely love your Mom's new porch swing! Tell your Dad he did a fantastic job!!
Beautiful piece! My husband and I have kept most the doors from renovating or Victorian home. We knew some day we would find something to do with them. I am so glad I saw this, will probably be a summer project this year!
I am so in love with this swing. I love any porch swings but this is so unique and so pretty. Very talented dad you have. I bet your mom loved it.
What a lucky mom! The swing is lovely. Your dad is quite a talent!

Wow, so smart! I've never seen a swing quite like this before. What a great upcycling project!

Absolutely Awesome!
This is so beautiful, I just love it.... what a great idea and done wonderfully. ♥
I love it! How did he put on the arms?
Charming in every way. Reminds me of my grandmas swing
How can I do this without a porch roof to suspend it from, could I make some sort of wall mount or stand? We definitely want it to swing though
Pippa - every porch has 2x6s or larger as supports above. Use a stud finder and pre-drill into them and attach lag screws that have a hook on the end. I would suggest a 3/8" size or greater and make sure the screw goes into the stud at least 3" as there will be a lot of torque with the weight of the swing and the occupants sitting or swinging. I hope this helps you!
